Expert HVAC Services in Park City
Park City sits about 7,000 feet up and that changes how equipment behaves. There’s less oxygen at that elevation so a furnace burning the same amount of gas puts out less heat than it would down in the valley, and a system that wasn’t set up for altitude will run inefficiently for years without anybody catching it. Winter is longer here too and the snow is heavier, and a lot of the homes are empty for weeks at a time between visits.
We work on all of it. The old mining-era houses in Old Town, the newer builds around Pinebrook and Silver Springs, and the larger custom homes out in Deer Valley, Promontory, Park Meadows, Jeremy Ranch and Canyons Village. HVAC service in Park City, UT covers heating, cooling, heat pumps, indoor air quality, maintenance, repairs and replacements, and we do it for full-time residents and second homeowners both. Call (801) 515-2213 or schedule online.
Comprehensive HVAC Services in Park City, UT
Repairs, installations, replacements, preventative maintenance, seasonal tune-ups, heat pump service, smart thermostat installation and emergency service when something quits.
The housing here runs from 1890s cottages to custom estates and the systems are just as varied. An Old Town home might have a furnace tucked into a space that was never meant for one, with ductwork run through walls that were built before central heat existed. A newer place in Promontory might have three zones, radiant floors and a control system that needs somebody who’s worked on that specific setup before. Both need the same thing from us, which is a tech who’s actually seen it before and isn’t learning on your house.
Second homes add another layer. If you’re only up a handful of weekends a year then your system sits unused for long stretches and the failures happen when nobody’s there to notice. We’ll talk about that more further down.
Reliable Air Conditioning Services
Our cooling services cover AC repair, installation and replacement plus heat pump cooling, ductless mini-splits and seasonal maintenance.
Cooling up here isn’t what it is in the valley. Evenings cool off enough that a lot of Park City homes went years without air conditioning at all and did fine. What changed is the way houses are built now, with the big south and west facing glass and the vaulted great rooms, and that much sun coming in through that much window heats a room up fast no matter what the outside temperature is doing. You end up with an upstairs that’s genuinely uncomfortable in the afternoon while the thermostat downstairs reads fine.
Ductless mini-splits are a good fit for a lot of those situations, especially in older homes where there’s nowhere to run new duct. Wildfire smoke is the other reason people have been adding cooling. When the smoke rolls in you want the house closed up and the air moving through a filter instead of the windows open. Call for AC repair in Park City if you’re seeing:
- Air that isn't cold, or barely any airflow
- Ice on the coil or the lines
- One part of the house that never catches up
- Energy bills climbing with no change in use
- Short cycling, or a system that runs and runs
Refrigerant leaks and restricted airflow are behind most of that and neither gets better on its own, so we find the cause before replacing parts.
Professional Heating Services
Winter runs long in Summit County and your heating system does most of the work from October into April. Our heating services include furnace repair, replacement and installation along with heat pump heating, maintenance and emergency repairs.
Furnace repair in Park City comes with a couple of problems the valley doesn’t have. The first is altitude, and a furnace that was installed without being set up for it will burn more gas than it should to hit the same temperature. The second is snow. Direct vent furnaces exhaust through a pipe on the side of the house and after a heavy storm or a few days of drifting that pipe gets buried, the safety switch reads the blockage and the furnace shuts itself down. It’s working correctly when that happens but you’re still sitting in a cold house. Keeping the intake and exhaust clear after storms is worth doing.
Uneven heating is common in the larger homes and it usually traces back to zoning or duct design rather than the furnace itself. And if you’re heating a big custom place, efficiency matters more than it does in a smaller house since you’re paying for it across a lot more square footage.
Indoor Air Quality & Energy Efficiency Solutions
The air up here is dry year round and running heat all winter takes out what little moisture is left. That’s hard on hardwood floors, wood furniture, cabinetry and anything else that moves with humidity, and in a lot of Park City homes there’s real money in those things. Instruments too, if you’ve got them.
Indoor air quality work includes whole-home humidifiers, advanced filtration, air purifiers, UV purification, ventilation improvements and zoning.
Whole-home humidifiers are the most common thing we install up here for that reason. Filtration handles the wildfire smoke that shows up some summers. Ventilation is worth looking at in the newer luxury builds, which are sealed tight enough for efficiency that they don’t exchange much air on their own, and tight construction plus dry heat plus a closed-up winter adds up. Smart thermostats and zoning let you stop conditioning the wings of the house nobody’s using.
HVAC Maintenance & System Replacements
A lot of Park City homes sit empty most of the year, and that’s where maintenance stops being optional. If the heat fails in a house nobody’s checking, you find out when the pipes freeze. A smart thermostat with remote monitoring will tell you the indoor temperature is dropping while there’s still time to do something, and that alone has saved homeowners here a lot of money. We can set that up and we can also do scheduled checks on the house between visits.
For everybody else it’s two visits a year. Cooling in the spring, heating in early fall, ideally done before ski season starts and the whole town gets busy. A tune-up catches the capacitor reading low or the coil that’s fouled before either one turns into a failure, and it keeps efficiency where it should be. On replacement, past fifteen years or so, or when a repair estimate starts approaching a meaningful share of a new system, it’s worth pricing both instead of just fixing it again.

Park City HVAC FAQs
Does elevation actually affect my furnace?
Yes. Combustion changes with less oxygen available and equipment needs to be configured for it at installation.
My furnace shut off after a snowstorm and I didn't touch anything. What happened?
Most likely a blocked exhaust or intake vent. Snow drifts over the pipe, the safety switch catches it and the system locks out. Clear the vent and it usually comes back.
Do I need AC in Park City?
Plenty of homes do fine without it. If you’ve got a lot of west-facing glass or a room that bakes in the afternoon or if smoke season means keeping windows shut then it’s worth having.
I'm only here in the winter. What should I be doing?
Get the heating system serviced in the fall before you come up and put a monitored thermostat in so you know if something goes wrong while the house is empty.
