What's New in 2026: Tax Credits & Rebates
The federal Energy Efficient Home Improvement Credit (25C), which previously offered homeowners up to $3,200 in annual tax credits on qualifying upgrades, expired on December 31, 2025 as part of the “One Big Beautiful Bill” Act. Unfortunately, these federal incentives are no longer available for new installations.
But there’s still great news — utility rebates are alive and well in 2026!
Rocky Mountain Power Wattsmart® Rebates
If you’re a Rocky Mountain Power customer, you may qualify for rebates through the Wattsmart® program when upgrading to energy-efficient HVAC equipment:
- Smart thermostats: Up to $100 back when installing a qualifying smart thermostat.
- Heat pumps: Up to $2,000 in rebates after upgrading to a high-efficiency heat pump.
- Ductless heat pumps: Up to $1,700 in rebates after installing a ductless heat pump — a great solution for homes without existing ductwork.
Enbridge Gas (ThermWise®) Rebates
If your home is heated with natural gas through Enbridge Gas (formerly Dominion Energy), you may qualify for rebates through the ThermWise® program for upgrading to energy-efficient heating systems. Visit the ThermWise® website to see what qualifies.
Stack Your Savings
The great news is that both the Wattsmart® and ThermWise® programs can be used together — meaning you could qualify for rebates from both programs on the same installation and maximize your total savings.
