Unique Faucet Designs to Consider When Renovating

When people think of uniquely beautiful faucets, they usually think of their bathrooms. The bathroom, usually a small space, is the place where you can be creative without breaking your budget during a renovation. But your kitchen, and even your laundry room, might also benefit from faucets with a distinctive look.

Eye-Catching Faucets for the Bathroom

Over the years, the designs for faucets have become increasingly ornate. One of the more popular designs, if you’re thinking of a really high-end type of faucet, is the waterfall. When you turn one of these faucets, the water comes out in a sheet like a cascade.

Besides the elegance of the water delivery, these faucets come in a variety of shapes and sizes. Some models are simple metal slabs mounted to the wall above the sink. Others resemble old-fashioned pumps with beautiful detailing; curved, modernistic works of art; or even a cashier’s barcode scanner.

Some have sprayers. These faucets are made of metal that can be bold, minimalist matte black or polished to a brilliant sheen. In some faucets, the metal is combined with tempered glass.

There are also faucets with LED lights that change color depending on the temperature of the water. Blue means the water is cool, while red signifies it’s hot. Several faucets are motion-sensitive and turn on when they sense a hand beneath the spout. Some of them need to be wired into your electrical system, though others are battery-operated.

Modern Faucets for the Kitchen

Modern kitchens also benefit from unique faucets. The trend with new kitchens is to have a gooseneck faucet with a pulldown spray. This type of faucet, which is high and curved, allows you to easily fill up stockpots. The spray helps with rinsing off food and cleaning the sink.

But high, curved faucets don’t have to be purely utilitarian, nor must they have a gooseneck. Many tall faucets have a nice 90-degree angle, which gives them an industrial look. Others resemble something like an elephant’s trunk. Some modern styles just have the pull-down spray with a metal mesh hose stabilized by a coil and an arm.

Pot fillers are also becoming more popular. These faucets are wall-mounted right above the stovetop, so you won’t even have to move a pot to the sink to fill it. Many have an old-fashioned look enhanced by finishes such as oil-rubbed bronze or polished brass.

Bridge faucets are also trending. They get their name because a raised pipe that looks like a bridge connects the hot and cold water handles.
