At Whipple Service Champions Heating, Cooling, Plumbing, and Electrical, we believe warmth is about more than a working furnace. It’s about people showing up for one another, especially when life is hard. That belief is what inspired our Whipple Warms Your Heart Community Giveback, an initiative created to recognize everyday heroes in the communities we serve.
This year, the community response was overwhelming. We received heartfelt nominations sharing stories of kindness, resilience, and service. One story stood out for its quiet strength and lifelong impact.
We are honored to announce Soni Johnson of Payson, Utah, as this year’s recipient of a free furnace installation.
Soni’s story was submitted by her son, who described a lifetime defined by hard work and selflessness. When her husband suffered a massive heart attack at a young age and later underwent a heart transplant, Soni stepped in without hesitation to support her family. She worked tirelessly, never complaining, and taught her children the value of perseverance through action.
Earlier this year, Soni became a widow. Even in the midst of her own grief, she continues to care for others. At 75 years old, she regularly checks on elderly neighbors, helps care for pets, and provides comfort and companionship to those who need it most. She does all of this while living on a limited Social Security income.
When her furnace broke down earlier this fall, Soni had no choice but to rely on a space heater to get through the cold Utah nights. Replacing or repairing her furnace simply wasn’t financially possible.
That’s where our team had the privilege of stepping in.
Thanks to the Whipple Warms Your Heart Community Giveback, we were able to install a brand-new furnace in Soni’s home—ensuring she has safe, reliable heat this holiday season and beyond. Seeing her warmth restored, both literally and figuratively, is a reminder of why we do what we do.
We’re grateful to everyone who took the time to share a nomination and shine a light on the incredible people in their communities. Stories like Soni’s remind us that kindness doesn’t need recognition—but it certainly deserves it.
From all of us at Whipple Service Champions, thank you for helping us spread warmth where it matters most.
