With Spring in full swing and summer around the corner, the time has come to get back outside and get prepared for the warmer months ahead. This time is pivotal because the checks and repairs you make right now could save you a small fortune later. In this article, we’ll be discussing different areas of your home that should be inspected, cleaned, repaired, and/or replaced.
Get out there and clean up the outside of your home. This includes your driveway, fences, decks, and anything that could be dirty or damaged by the rough weather. We recommend power washing all concrete surfaces, and sweeping and cleaning your wood surfaces. Next up is the roof. No matter what type of roof you currently have, or how old it is you will need to get up there. Take time to inspect if any spots are weak, damaged, or rotting.
Your roof takes most of the damage in the winter and it’s pivotal that your roof stays healthy. You don’t need us to tell you the consequences of a faulty roof, whether it be a small leak or an entire collapse. While you are up there, you should take the time out to inspect your rain gutters, also. Clear out any leaves, dirt, grime, along with anything the could clog the flow of the gutter. These simple little gutters drive all the water away from your home and could easily save you thousands on water damage to the home when allowed to do their job correctly.
Continuing to some routine maintenance work. Have a checklist ready and go through each of the following to make sure no problems will arise. Check or Replace your A/C filters, then replace the batteries on your smoke detector, and inspect all windows and screens. This is all simple and relatively cheap inspection work that will repay you with high air quality, a lower electric bill, and possibly save your life with a working smoke detector.
It’s now time to inspect and repair the concrete in your driveway, along with the outer paint of your home. Concrete repair along with touching up your home’s paint job is generally inexpensive and does wonders for your home’s value. Not only does it get your home looking brand new, but the right paint will provide added protection from the elements.
These tips will save you money, increase your home’s value, and increase your overall safety in the home. Well worth the investment.
